Falling on the full moon day of the Ashwin month, this festival marks the end of the monsoon and the beginning of the harvest season. Young unmarried girls observe this day with the hope of securing a handsome and virtuous husband, much like the celestial gods, Kumar Kartikeya, the epitome of youthful charm and valor.
